We are building a new home and will have oak trim and doors throughout. I'd like to mix it up with knotty alder cabinets in the kitchen. What do you think about this and would use same stain for cabinets and trim or mix it up?

Last year we had new cabinets put in that were supposed to be made of bamboo. We were told that bamboo holds up longer and is more duriable than most hardwoods. I had this type of wood put in because we use the kitchen a lot...for catering business...so the kitchen is always steamy and moist. Were we told wrong about the bamboo being the best wood?

This is a kitchen island that i just finished. Used solid maple for all the panel construction.

I moved into this apartment building, and on the bottom of the kitchen cabinets and some of the cabinet doors there is grease just caked on from the stove beneath it. So much for landlord's "cleaning" before a new tenant moves in.

What can I use to take the grease off? It looks just horrible.

I like the different stain options & opaque look of the exterior deck & fence stains. Is there any reason I should not apply them to my new kitchen cabinets

I'm laying a light tan / beige floor in my kitchen and the walls and cabinets are white. What color should I paint the cabinet doors? White doors will get too dirty, so I'd rather not paint them white.

The previous owner painted the kitchen cabinet doors blue, and I don't like the look - it's a small kitchen and the doors are too dark. Lighter colors would help the kitchen look bigger.
