It’s hard to recommend when there’s not pic (uploaded to flickr.com or whatever). However, I do have a great site to order hardware from that have the best prices! They ship fast too:

If you are going to have stainless sink, I would go with chrome knobs to offer a nice flow. You can keep the cabinets somewhat traditional, with a modern knob. They can always be replaced in the future. Here is another site good for custom work:
Depending on the space and your description of it, Less is More!
You don’t want anything that overstates itself, so blend the knobs & pulls with the cabinets, cherry wood maybe.
The sink & your other appliances may want to talk to each other, in a friendly way, ie. match!
You get the the idea!
Go for brushed Nickle or stainless steel there are lots of kitchen handle websites or if you are in the UK then B&Q or Screwfix keep some in stock but count up the number you will need as you will be surprised at the cost. You will find plenty of choice of long handles and knobs. As far as your sink is concerned it is a little like some one choosing a pair of shoes for you as they are all basically the same but it is the little different details that may appeal I like the timeless look of stainless so if that is something you may like then look at Franke as they have a great range. Finally go for quality as this will shine through. good luck
