Woodworking
I use 00 steel wool. And NO it does not scratch. But be sure it is 00…..which is extra fine. I also use it to clean chrome on my $100,000 classic car.
Replace them.
use a gum eraser,
It will probably be alot easier to remove them from the cabinets first (just a screw or two from the back). Let them soak in a sink full of hot, soapy water & just wash them.
try leaving them in vinegar over night
I would suggest you get them professionally buffed and lacquered.
Wipe them with tomato ketchup or tomato soup…let stand for a few minutes.then wash or wipe clean with a soft cloth.
Do NOT let them stand for any length of time( as in overnight) as the acid in the tomato will eat into the metal..
this works for copper as well..
