Hey steven what kind of paint did you mix with glazing??? I am about to do a project and I am a little confused.
Thanks
According to his other video it’s just Umber tint mixed with an oil glaze. Has to be P&L glaze, as much as he’s bought from me!
Yes its just umber tint about a 1/4 full in a solo cup, fill with glaze then add a couple ounces thinner. Is poppameth Chad? Yeah its Pratt & Lambert Glaze.
Yes Poppameth is indeed Chad.
hi steve, I really love the way this looks, can you tell me how you painted the cabinet to begin with before you started the glazing so I can get the same look, thanks so much great work
Nice finish, And did you paint this door first hand before glazing? Would you reveal the paint color and process? Keep those vids comming man!! awsome.
Hi Harvey,
I did paint the door prior to glazing. There are 2 coats of primer & 3 coats of Ben Moore Lancaster White Oil base Impervo low luster. I used a 3M med/fine sanding block & sanded between coats. You can use the acrylic version of Impervo if you prefer that.
Good Luck!
wow…great video. this is what i’m thinking about doing in my kitchen. i’m just afraid that this will be extremely time consuming. did you brush on the paint or spray? i get mixed opinions on which is best.
I spray a couple coats of primer & then bush 2 top coats so that future touch ups won’t stand out. Yeah its time consuming but the results are worth it.
i take a sh** on the cabinet and rub it in. LOOKS GREAT
Hi – I recently painted my old *hideous* oak cabinets a creamy white color (used Ace Hardware’s Alkatex Cabinet, Door, and Trim paint). I applied Mohawk Heavy Bodied Glaze to only the grooves – as you did in this video, and I’m wondering if I need to apply a topcoat of Polycrylic? I was hoping that by using the Ace cabinet paint, I would be able to avoid this Poly topcoat, but am concerned that glaze will wear off?
Opps sorry I didn’t notice the comment. I would not worry about a sealer on it. Touch it up if you want to but even if it wears off it can add to the look.
Hi. Would you prefer an antique white with expresso glazing or a dove white with expresso glazing?
I just tried your technique and all I can say is “Thank You”!!!!
Thanks for the great video. Question. I have old cabinets. I am wanting to keep the wood grain – so no painting. To prepare the surface should I use TCP and then sand them or is TCP enough. Then I will use a toner and a glaze. Also I was told that is I used glaze then I don’t need to use a topcoat. Is this true?
