We want to refinish our kitchen cabinets but we need some advice. What is the best type of paint to use, and do we have to sand before we paint, should we use primer, should we use rollers or a brush, etc?? Also, we have ugly white appliances which we will eventually be switching out to stainless... but for now, what color of paint would look best? I really like the antique white, but I am afraid that would look dumb with white appliances? Any help would be awesome. Thanks!
I have these cabinets in a house that I bought that were made back in the 1980's (1984) and they are this white vinyl with wood trim on both ends of the cabinet doors, the insides are flimsy pre-fab material that is warped and water damaged. Needless to mention that they all need replacing... The appliances are okay, and have been updated, but will probably rip out when a new kitchen cabinets have been installed..
My question is this, Could I save money (I'm on a low budget), by buying some kind of attractive cabinetry (not necessarily for the just the kitchen, but something that is strong and durable and attractive), pay someone to install, and just buy a freestanding stove and microwave... Anyone have any different ideas on how to save on a much needed to be replaced kitchen??
I plan on removing this ugly wall paper, get lighter colored doors on the cabinets and hardware, try to get a built in table, recessed lights and under cabinet lights, different counter tops, my floor is tiled somewhere between tan and white, I have dark cabients (oak, they are solid). I have two window next to each other, with a shorter counter height and 3 cabinets below it, thinking of getting something done there too, like a big or 2 end cabinets to store some appliances and built on table, I plan either soft paint or something like green, red, or blueish or maybe yellow for the walls, and a white ceiling celing.
