Has anyone ever used Ikea kitchen furniture to create a workspace in the basement/garage? My plan is to use two kitchen cabinets for tool storage and put wooden butcher block on top (about 70") to use as workbench. Plus I'll get a clothing closet (with shelves and drawers) to keep rest of the tools and stuff hidden and organized. Plan to use 10" drill press and miter saw on the counter top, plus misc hammering etc. And there'll be a perforated tool board on the wall behind counter top. Is there any obvious problem with my plan?
The cabinets are 30 years old, but are in pretty good conditiion. I think they need something to "rev" them up. I don't want to just paint them out, as I like the wood look, but they darken the kitchen severely. Any suggestions?
I have 7 small (14"x20") cabinet doors I want to replace in my kitchen. I've looked online at various websites, but haven't found anything affordable that impresses me. Does anyone have any suggestions where to look, or DIY ideas?
I'm going to remodel my home office. I would like to use stock kitchen cabinets, I need to locate a source for base cabinets that are approx. 30" (desk height) and 24" deep. Can any one help?
Thanks,
Bill

I moved into this apartment building, and on the bottom of the kitchen cabinets and some of the cabinet doors there is grease just caked on from the stove beneath it. So much for landlord's "cleaning" before a new tenant moves in.
What can I use to take the grease off? It looks just horrible.
Like to know if anyone has used kitchen cabinets for a bathroom vanity at a finished height of 36" and had problems with it size in the bathroom. I read another old post that said it was too big for her she was 5' 2" and so am I. Said getting close to the mirror was a problem. Anyone done this.
Thank you all for your insite. I was thinking of using kitchen cause months ago I had a design company come out and that is what he suggested using. I got rid of that group for other reasons and this is just another I didn't know about.
I'm thinking about painting my wooden kitchen cabinets but I heard that I should use a "gripper" primer, which I can't seem to find anywhere. Can I use any primer or should I keep searching? Also, What kind of paint would be the most durable for the kitchen since I wipe them down often? Thanks!
