I am not sure where they came from. They are found in our kitchen cabinets and solid and untreated pine chairs. They come in great numbers. If you don't look carefully they only look like wood sherds or brown dust. They seem to be attracted paper goods (food or non-food) as well as wood. I can't tell any real damages. However, I don't intend to use or eat anything they have travel upon. Their seem to multiply quickly as well. They have invited spiders all over to feed on them. We have decided to replace our old kitchen cabinets. We hope this will end the problem. We don't know what they are and if they are harmful to our health.
i can't find a base cabinet to fit the area for my kitchen sink. the area is 110cm and there are no cabinets that are 110cm. so i've started to think that maybe kitchen fitters use cabinets that are shorter for corner areas, since the worktop covers the rest of area in the corners. do fitters do this? cos it it seems to me that thats the only way it could possibly be done.
(my question may not make sense - sorry)
they used to be really dark wooden cabinets, and it made the kitchen seem really dark, and small, BUT THAT'S THE WAY MY DAD LIKES IT! and i hate it! we painted them white, and when the sun shines in, it's so bright and cheerful..my dad said "look at other people's kitchen and see what color they paint THEIR cabinets!" so i need opinions please!!!
I know how to get them cream but I'm thinking they'd look better with a brown glace finish???? Just not sure what to use so they will hold up? I want to update my kitchen but on a budget. Thanks for any suggestions from anyone who has done this.
Are those ceramic fruit themed wall decorations for the kitchen easy to fall when hung on the wall??
I saw some beautiful ones on ebay I want to buy that just have the hole at the top of them where you hang them. However, I was wondering if they would fall easily from the pressure of shutting the kitchen cabinet doors and such. I wanted to put them just above my kitchen cabinets but kinda worried they'll fall or be crooked when the cabinets are used.
Am I making any sense?
Cabinets are probably 20 yrs. old and seem to have never been cleaned! I'm using Murphy's Oil soap, but there is still "grime" near the handles. I'm afraid I will remove the finish on the doors and don't want another project! This house is 55 yrs old and has plenty of projects already ![]()
I have tried Murphy's Oil Soap. The icky grime is still not rubbing off. It must be years of accumulation. I did take the handles off (you don't want to know what those looked like). I don't want to remove the varnish or finish of the cabinets and have a major project on my hands. What is the name of a "degreaser" that you would recommend?
Thanks for the help!
The paint that was on it before just peeled off like a big layer of skin or something so it was quite easy to do that part, it was white in color. So now it looks like its left a glue residue and its all a light wooden color, but i know im going to need to sand it, it feels really fuzzy like to be honest. Why is that? it doesnt feel like smooth wood. So i feel if i try painting over it after sanding, it will look horrible and lumpy. Can someone please tell me what to do, the color im going is black. So what are the steps for this. help thanks
We are updating our kitchen. The cabinets are not bad but we want to change the color decor. What type of paint is best to use on cabinets. My husband will be sanding and cleaning as prep but we are not sure of the paint type. Oil base is what we think is best. Thanks for your advice.
