I am not talking about covering the outlet up. What I am suggesting is cutting a hole in the cabinets and pulling the outlet through with a electrical box extender, so the faceplate can go on top. So essentially when you open up the cabinet door there would be an electrical outlet hidden, that can still be of use.

My doors are soft maple and the cabinetry is solid wood, but not the maple used for the doors.

Any idea of the cost? Would it be cheaper to just paint the cabinets and replace the doors?

Thank you.
btw.....We would like to paint them white, if that matters at all.

I usually use 'Fantastic' and it doesn't work so well, so I tried 'degreaser' for autos and it melted the grease off in seconds, before I even had the chance to wipe it off. Is it going to damage the white cabinets? They look fine now.
I like the Kim Cream degreaser idea.

We have a wall cabinet over a microwave which is over the stove that has a build up of grease. I have tried 409 and Simple Green and neither seemed to work. Perhaps I could have rubbed harder and longer but I was afraid of ruining the finish on the cabinet. Does anyone know of a product that will cut through the grease and not mess up the finish?

Does anyone on here have glossy cabinets in their home, and if so, what is the best way to clean them without ruining the surface at all? Is it best to just use a damp cloth and then wipe them down, or should I be using a polisher of some sort? I want to clean them up, but I'm unsure if it's okay to use a regular polish on this type of surface.

Thanks!

We are in the process of buying this foreclosure home. It was build in the 70's so could use a little face lift. Would these cabinets look bad painted? If not what color would look good? Any other ideas to make them look better w/o replacing them?

they used to be really dark wooden cabinets, and it made the kitchen seem really dark, and small, BUT THAT'S THE WAY MY DAD LIKES IT! and i hate it! we painted them white, and when the sun shines in, it's so bright and cheerful..my dad said "look at other people's kitchen and see what color they paint THEIR cabinets!" so i need opinions please!!!

How can I get the grease off without scratching the cabinets? What is the best type of material and cleaning solution to use? Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

I have a condo that was built in 1994. I think the builder used the cheapest cabinets available. I don't want to spend the money to get new cabinets (I'm putting in new carpet and painting the entire place), so I want to paint them. I'm not sure what type of wood these cabinets are though? Maybe Corian? Do I just need to prime them, and then paint them?

I bought unfinished kitchen cabinets and i am primering, painting, and glazing them. they are to be white with a dark colored glaze. how do i use the glaze to achieve the "border" around the inside of the doors? I was told to treat it like stain...just rub it on and wipe it off, but I am not sure what I'm really doing and the directions on the bottle are pretty much non-existent. just says to follow the directions in the lowes faux how-to guide, and i don't have that. thanks for any detailed help you can give!
I have some glaze from lowes. it's in a jug, so it's not going to be sprayed. it's a colored glaze that is supposed to settle into the "crevices" in the edge of the doors...the lady told me to treat it just like stain, but i have practiced with it and it leaves color on the paint also, do i need to wash off the excess?....
