If you really want a hardwood floor, do a darker cherry or dark oak so that it will not blend with your cabinets and look too monochromatic…then the beauty of natural maple cabinets will not stand out!
If it doesnt have to be hardwood floors, though…a travertine tile or a large (no smaller than 12" X 12") tile pattern in earthtones. Maybe something like this…

then you could bring in the same tiles to do a nice backsplash with it!
As far as countertops- if you want a nice granite…you could go darker since everything else would be neutral tones… (like a granite that pulls in bronzes, blacks and dark browns)

or stay with your light tone pallet and pick a nice creamy one with small amounts of bronze, blacks, etc. (there is one called "Jonquil" that is BEAUTIFUL)

Good Luck!!!
Why not just use natural wood floors, just the color of the wood and stain it then polyurethane,to break up the monotany use a small multi colored tile tops.
Making this decision is one that would need a little more information. What is your style contemporary traditional etc.?
What kind of colors do you like?
One thing to remember is that when God created a forest he did not try to match the woods He used so you do not have to match wood tones. They just need to blend.
If you are a person that likes to change things often then I would recommend that you keep your counters neutral this way they will blend with whatever colors you choose. Black is always a counter that makes a statement. Again it is also decided by the type of material you will be using. Granite, solid surface or laminate.
When I decorate with clients I usually try to have them make a file while they are going through magazines. As you see picture in magazines of rooms you like place them in a file for you bedroom living room kitchen etc. As you do this you will see a trend happening and you will find your style.
Do you have a sample of the light maple color?
And what style is this kitchen (modern, contemporary, traditional, etc.; casual or formal)?
For the floors, I’d go with a dark color, like a dark cherry or mahogany. Example colors:

For the countertops, I’d also go more dark than light (a designer’s tip is to match the countertop shade to the floor — both large flat surfaces in the room) — but in a granite or quartz.
For example from these samples:

I’d go with the Brownhill or Ashford.
The walls I’d do in a warm cream color. Hope that helps!
